What is Heir Inheritance Funding? |
Inheritance funding is a fast cash advance
on a portion of an heir's inheritance anywhere in the United States.
In short, the heir sells a portion of his or her future inheritance at a discount for quick cash now.
|
| The advance is basically a flat fee assignment. It is not a loan, so there is no interest
or monthly payments, no cost to apply, and the heir's employment history is not an issue.
|
How Does Inheritance Funding Work? |
| Simply provide a Funding Officer with some basic information about your probate situation,
so that an application may be completed. The Funding Officer will contact your attorney to handle the rest.
Advances are usually made within 5 to 7 business days
of the receipt of your completed application.
|
| An advance to an heir is accomplished via a priority assignment against the heir's
share of the estate, not against the estate as a whole. This means the shares of the other heirs are not affected.
|
What are the Criteria? |
General guidelines are the following:
- The probate estate must already be open or in the process of being opened.
- The estate's assets must be probated in the United States.
- An heir's expected portion of the estate must be at least $17,000.
- As a rough rule of thumb, an heir's advance cannot exceed 25% of his or her expected distribution portion.
- The size of the advance, complexity of the probate estate, and the estimated time to distribution
are the major factors affecting pricing. Most advances are paid at a rate of 50 to 75 cents on the dollar,
and normally range from $5,000 to $100,000.
